1. Introduction
VoiceJutsu (hereinafter "the App") is a macOS voice input app provided by RuLa Gems ("the Developer"). The App is built around the promise that your audio and text stay on this Mac — speech recognition, speaking analysis, and translation are all performed on your device. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how it is processed.
2. Information We Collect
The App stores and processes the following information only on your device:
- Audio captured from the microphone (processed on-device for transcription; the audio itself is not saved as a file)
- Transcribed text, and the notes you create or edit
- Speaking analysis data (filler words, speech rate, pauses, rephrasing, sentence length, clarity, and similar metrics)
- Your custom dictionary entries
- App settings
- Cached subscription status (the result of querying your App Store purchase state)
Important: All of this information is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to any server operated by the Developer.
3. Device Access Permissions
- Microphone: Used for voice input (transcription). The captured audio is processed on your device and is never transmitted externally.
4. On-Device Processing (On-Device AI)
The App performs the following entirely on your device:
- Speech recognition (transcription): Audio is transcribed locally using an open-source speech recognition model (the whisper.cpp ggml model) that is bundled with the App. Processing is fully offline, and your audio is never sent externally.
- Speaking analysis & suggestions: Speaking tendencies are analyzed locally based on the transcription.
- Translation: Japanese ↔ English translation is performed on-device using Apple's Translation framework. Nothing is sent to the cloud (this feature requires macOS 15 or later).
5. Network Access
The speech recognition model (the whisper.cpp ggml model) is bundled with the App, and speech recognition, speaking analysis, and translation all run entirely on your device. The App is not granted any network entitlement (macOS App Sandbox, with no network-client entitlement), so the App itself performs no external communication whatsoever. Your audio, text, and analysis data are never transmitted externally.
Communication for in-app purchases (subscriptions) is handled at the system level by Apple's App Store / StoreKit, not by the App (see Section 6).
6. In-App Purchases (Subscription)
The App offers a subscription for paid features (including a free trial) through Apple's StoreKit 2. All purchase, renewal, and cancellation processing is handled by Apple; the Developer never receives or stores your payment information (such as credit card numbers, Apple ID, or name). Only your subscription state (active status, expiration date, auto-renew status, etc.) is read locally on your device. Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled, and you can cancel at any time from your Apple ID settings. For details, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.
7. Information Sharing
The App does not share your audio, text, or speaking analysis data with any third party. All data is stored exclusively on your device. In-app purchases (Section 6) are processed by Apple's App Store / StoreKit at the system level.
8. Data Retention
All data is stored on your device until you uninstall the App or manually delete it.
9. Security
The App runs inside the standard macOS App Sandbox and stays on your Mac. Data is stored on your device under the standard iOS / macOS security features.
10. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with information, please contact us using the form below and we will take steps to delete it.
11. Your Rights (California / CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of that information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because the App stores audio, text, and analysis data only on your device, does not transmit it to the Developer's servers, and does not sell or share it, the Developer holds no personal information to disclose, delete, or sell, and there is accordingly nothing for the Developer to act on under the CCPA.
12. Disclaimer (Analysis, Suggestions & Recognition Results)
The speech recognition (transcription) results, speaking analysis, and improvement suggestions provided by the App are reference information offered to provide the App's features. The Developer does not warrant their accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Depending on what is spoken and the environment, recognition and analysis results may differ from reality.
The Developer shall not be liable, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, for any decisions or actions you take based on these results or suggestions.

This Privacy Policy may be updated as necessary. Any changes will be reflected on this page along with the "Last Updated" date above.

15. Data Deletion
If you wish to delete all data, open the Settings screen and choose "Delete all" under "Data Management". This permanently removes all history — including trend reports — from your Mac (this action cannot be undone). Uninstalling the App also removes the data it has stored on your device.
